Although there are many kinds of hat but a unique one has really been a trendsetter for some years now: bucket hat [which is sometimes called 'Fisherman's hat'] is now a good (clothing) article for accessorizing casual wears.

A hint from the annals of bucket hat's history shows that it was introduced [and adapted for a protective purpose] by Irish farmers in 1900- thus it was nicknamed 'Irish walking hats'. It was also an important gear in the U.S military costume during the Vietnam war. In contemporary times however, bucket hats are now somewhat categorized as a 'summer hat'- this may not be unconnected to the fact that they (bucket hats) could serve as a form of shield that prevents sun rays from directly reflecting on the face. The hat appears to be in vogue across every continent: you will find at least one country [in every continent] where the bucket hat culture is in place, and the hat has been given different names in different nations- Ispoti in South Africa; Giggle hat in Australia; 'Rafael hat' in Israel and 'Reni hat' in the United Kingdom are just some of the few names you will get to hear.

The hat's brim is relatively moderate. This is about the primary reason why it serves as a credible summer accessory [as the brim helps to shield the face from the sun]. Also, based on the protective effect it offers, the bucket hat has turned out to become glider pilots' choice while flying- so, it's not all about fashion.
